The Republican National Convention said Thursday that Julie Shugar, a long-time resident of San Francisco, Calif., will be the convention's director of media operations.

While the announcement is new, Shugar is no stranger to GOP conventions. This will be seventh one she's worked at, and she's been on the job for the Tampa convention since at least October. Shugar was the director of the convention’s media center during the 2004 and 2008 conventions.

A graduate of Louisiana State University, Shugar also has worked as assistant clerk of the U.S. House of Representatives, in the political division of the Republican National Committee and as a political appointee at the Department of Health and Human Services in the George H. W. Bush administration.
