RNC Chair predicts Fla will cave on Prez primary
Politico reports on RNC Chairman Reince Preibus' C-Span interview, where he knocked down the talk of moving the 2012 convention from Tampa - but not the promise to penalize Florida if it violates the calendar: "The convention has been set, the convention is going to be in Tampa,” he said, adding: “I think they’re two different issues. The convention is one issue, the primary calendar is another issue.”
The chairman said he would follow RNC rules and strip Florida of half their convention delegates if they insisted on holding their primary within the window reserved for the early states but predicted the electoral behemoth would move its date.
“I think ultimately Florida is going to be outside the window, I would hope so,” he said. “I think we have rules for a reason and the Florida delegates [to the RNC] supported the primary calendar as it’s currently adopted by the Republican National Committee.”
