RNC names Paul Sorenson director of transportation

The Republican National Convention has named Paul Sorenson director of transportation. It will be his second convention. In 2008, he was deputy director of operations for the GOP convention in St. Paul, Minn.

The transportation challenges that go with the convention, scheduled for Aug. 27-30, will be considerable, with 300 buses a day expected to carry delegates and other conventioneers to and from the Tampa Bay Times Forum. In a statement, Sorenson said he looks forward to helping create a welcoming atmosphere.

A native of Greentown, Ind., Sorenson graduated from Manchester College. He also has worked as a legislative aide for then-U.S. House Speaker Dennis Hastert, is a veteran of many congressional campaigns and has served as a Republican state party executive director in 2009.
