Rod, you stole my idea, but thanks

Republican CFO candidate Randy Johnson, who's touting his anti-insurance Blue Tarp Tour, jumped on an AP story noting that Rod Smith took a piece of tarp from a hurricane damaged house Tuesday and said he'd carry it with him around the state.

“It is clear that my use of the blue tarp as a symbol of our state’s insurance crisis is catching on," Johnson said. "Now Rod Smith is going to travel around Florida with his own piece of blue tarp. Since imitation is the most sincere form of flattery, I thank Sen. Smith for the compliment. However, I’m not ready to welcome him aboard my ‘Blue Tarp Tour.’”

UPDATE: Reply from Smith campaign. "Even though Randy Johnson didn't invite Senator Smith to join his Blue Tarp Tour, we won't hold a grudge. After all, thanks to the Republican-led legislature, there are plenty of blue tarps to be seen throughout Florida. As Governor, Rod Smith will ensure that those blue tarps disappear as a result of finally getting insurance companies to fill the claims that have been neglected since 2005 and even 2004. Senator Smith carries a piece of blue tarp given to him by supporter Tyrone Vanderhall of Escambia County to remind him of his firm promise to all Floridians that he will work for them, not for the insurance companies, whose favorite color seems to be blue."
