Romney, Obama to address national Latino group in Orlando

Mitt Romney will address the National Association of Latino Elected and Appointed Officials during the group's annual conference in Orlando on June 21. President Barack Obama will follow on June 22.

“The Latino electorate has become a permanent fixture on the political landscape of this country,” said Sylvia R. Garcia, NALEO President. “With the election nearing, the NALEO membership is looking forward to the opportunity to learn more about Governor Mitt Romney and his position on issues of importance to our constituents and the Latino community.”

The announcement came on the same day of a national poll showing Obama holding a 34-point lead over Romney among registered Latino voters, 61 to 27 percent.

The three day convention in Orlando is expected to draw more than 1,000 Latino officials and supporters. "Conference participants will join political and policy leaders for panel discussions on education, health, financial empowerment, broadband adoption and the growing clout of Latino voters in American politics," according to an announcement.

Appearing after Romney will be Jeb Bush and State Sen. Rene Garcia, R-Miami, chair of Florida Hispanic Legislative Caucus. Sen. Marco Rubio will speak in the 22nd.
