Romney's latest ad seeks to counter fallout from '47 percent' comments made in Florida
Mitt Romney has this new ad in which he tries to contain the damage from the leaked video of him dismissing 47 percent of Americans as dependent on government handouts. The comments were made in May at a fundraiser in Boca Raton and Romney was playing campaign analyst, to put his words in context, saying those people would not be inclined to vote for him and that he was seeking a small percentage of swing voters. But the comments have become a powerful tool for Barack Obama and Democrats to cast Romney as out of touch and super wealthy.
"President Obama and I both care about poor and middle class families," Romney says. "The difference is my policies will make things better for them."
