Ros-Lehtinen and Diaz-Balart look to kick-start immigration debate
With the immigration debate about to restart in Washington, Florida Reps. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen and Mario Diaz-Balart are planning a forum Monday "to listen to ideas and suggestions for immigration reform from stakeholders in the South Florida community."
The invite-only meeting will be held at Diaz-Balart's office building in Doral at 10 a.m., according to an announcement today.
The Miami Republicans have long supported immigration reform, including the Dream Act which many in the GOP have rejected. Diaz-Balart has been participating in quiet bipartisan talks and is pushing for a comprehensive solution, not the step-by-step approach being advocated by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio.
