Rubio helps put McConnell back in command of Senate Republicans
Senator-elect Marco Rubio this morning seconded the nomination of Mitch McConnell as leader of the Senate Republicans. The nomination was offered by Sen. John McCain. (Harry Reid will retain his post at majority leader)
"I think that the Republican conference has an opportunity to be a strong policy alternative to the direction that Sen. Reid and the Democrats here in the Senate are taking our country," Rubio said afterward. "I'm looking forward to being a part of that. I think today will be a good step toward that, in the vote we'll take this afternoon."
The vote is a ban on earmarks.
