Rubio: Numbers are coming
House Speaker Marco Rubio says the financial impact of the tax plan will be revealed by the end of the week. "I think we're getting some final numbers today and early tomorrow," the Miami Republican said moments ago during a conference call with the Florida Association of Realtors.
The tax plan includes a rollback and cap of local government tax revenue and super homestead exemptions based on tiered percentages of home value.
Rubio told the group that there is not agreement on reforming the "highest and best" assessment practice that has caused huge spikes in some commercial property. A used car lot may get taxed at a much higher rate because the highest and best use of the property is a hotel.
