Rubio top VP pick in national poll
Time to turn the veep-o-meter another degree for Sen. Marco Rubio. A new national poll finds him the top pick for vice president in 2012.
Rubio was mentioned 66 times in the poll by Fairleigh Dickinson University's PublicMind, which asked an open-ended question to 799 registered Republican and independent voters nationwide. It was conducted Feb. 6-12.
Second place went to Rick Santorum, with 56 mentions, and third to Chris Christie with 47. Sarah Palin came in fourth with 35 mentions. "Any time you place ahead of Sarah Palin, call yourself a winner. Her name recognition and presence are formidable," Peter Woolley, who directed the poll, said in a statement.
Other Floridians getting mentions: Allen West (2) and Jeb Bush (1).
