Rubio will continue to push autism
House Speaker Marco Rubio's 100 Ideas Foundation is planning a conference on autism -- an issue both he and Gov. Charlie Crist have tried to elevate. The conference is slated for Orlando in September, though details are still being worked out.
The issue played a dramatic role in the final moments of Rubio's House career, when he and other representatives reluctantly agreed to a Senate package mandating insurance coverage for autistic children. Rubio said it should have been expanded to include other disabilities, including Down syndrome.
