Sansom picks up new attorney
Ray Sansom has a new lawyer to represent him in the House disciplinary hearing. Gloria Fletcher, a Gainesville attorney who has represented police officers, replaces Richard Coates, who removed himself from the case because of unspecified conflicts with potential witnesses.
Fletcher could not immediately be reached for comment. Sansom is accused of violating House rules through his dealings with Northwest Florida State College, where he took a $110,000 job after steering about $35 million there.
Fletcher was once a law partner with former state Sen. Rod Smith and served as a North Central Florida campaign chair for the Tom Gallagher gubernatorial campaign. Her co-counsel for the Sansom case will be Therese Misita Truelove, also from Gainesville.
