Sean Hannity or Brit Hume for the Florida debate?

Those are the likely moderators for Florida’s national televised Republican presidential debate in October, state GOP Chairman Jim Greer told party activists Saturday. The Fox News debate is part of the Oct. 20-21 “Presidency IV” event in Orlando that’s shaping up to be a big deal. Addressing his party’s quarterly meeting in Orlando, Greer said he expects also to have a “mini convention” featuring speeches from all the presidential candidates, who will also host receptions for Florida Republicans.

Party leaders scrapped plans for a “straw vote” measuring the popularity of the candidates, but every county will name delegates, called “ambassadors” to go two-day weekend
“It’s an awesome opportunity for every county to build their grass roots going into this election,’’ said Hillsborough Republican party chairman David Storck.

The party activists also presented former state finance chairman Al Austin with an award and standing ovation for all his work for the party. Greer intended to do the same with former state chair Carole Jean Jordan, who nearly beat him for the job this time, but she was apparetly rearranging her sock drawer and couldn't make it. Actually, we hear she's on a cruise.
