Sen. Fasano: Fla GOP routinely picked up others' spouse expenses
State Sen. Mike Fasano, a staunch Charlie Crist supporter, call the Florida GOP's internal investigation "laughable" and "outrageous" for singling out Charlie Crist for having allegedly spent party money on his spouse, Carole Crist.
"It's laughable for them to suggest that only Charlie Crist travelled where the party paid for his expenses and maybe some of his family members. To suggest that he's the only one who did that is laughable. Iv'e been in this proc for 16 years and I was part of it,'' said Fasano, mentioning among other things annual fundraisers at Yankee Stadium, where the party paid for family members.
"They should be ashamed tof themselves for not laying all their cards on the table and showing us the credit cards of Marco Rubio's expenses prier to 2006 when all incoming speakers and leadership teams were giving AmEx cards to use at their leisure without any questions asked," Fasano said. "Greer, Sansom Rubio and a load of them lived in a time of entitlement, they thought they were owed something, and they're all to blame. But the fact is Chairman Thrasher is not telling the whole story."
The Crist campaign released a statement: "Republican party bosses engaging in smear tactics to cover-up the wrongdoing of their own nominee? Shocking. Now that the bosses have ended their partisan charade, they must immediately release all of Marco Rubio's credit card records dating back to when he was Speaker-Designate to determine the extent to which he charged the party for personal expenses like family reunions and real estate payments."
