Sen. Tony Hill leaving office early to join new Jacksonville mayor's team
State Sen. Tony Hill, D-Jacksonville, is resigning his seat to take a job for the city's mayor-elect Alvin Brown. A special election will be called to fill Hill's seat, which he would have left in 2012 due to term limits.
Hill will serve as a special assistant and liaison to Tallahassee and Washington, according to the Times-Union. Brown also hired Times-Union political columnist Abel Harding as communications director.
