Senate Debates and Money
Republican Senate candidate Will Mcbride won't say how much of his own considerable wealth he'll put in the campaign: "That’s the million – maybe the $2-mill, $3-million question. Who knows. That’s what’s being discussed right now,'' he said when asked during a vist to the St. Pete Times editorial board. McBride also acknowledged attending rallies with immigrants protesting immigration proposals in Washington.
"There are those in the Republican party that would want to spread fear within our party, calling it an illegal invasion…But I’m also saying on the other side we have emplopyment entrapment. We’re saying, 'Come here, come here we’ll pay you, pay you, pay you.' But now after 9/11, unfortunately within our party there are those who are using a scare tactic, that are saying you know what we need to round these people up and deport them all.''
Meawhile, we're waiting reaction from Katherine Harris on GOP rival LeRoy Collins Jr challenging her to a debate: "here is a wealth of issues of importance to Florida voters and we need to be engaged on the issues, and stop talking about scandals, and the 2000 election recount,” Collins said. "I’ll meet Katherine Harris anywhere in the state at any time to discuss the issues. "
