Senate to forge ahead on drilling ban
The Senate just began, with Sen. Alex Villalobos reading the schedule for the week. That's right, the Senate is going ahead with it's committee meetings to consider Gov. Charlie Crist's proposed oil drilling ban.
The bill has two committee references and could hit the Senate floor Thursday. Senate President Jeff Atwater is speaking now, explaining his rationale. In short, senators will use the week to hash out legislation that could be passed in a separate special session in late August or September.
UPDATE: Atwater just learned that the House has adjourned sine die. The Senate will recess for 15 minutes then "revisit the calendar" that they read this morning. Stay tuned.
