Senate kills 'cut, cap, balance' and Florida reflects partisan divide

July

rubionelson.jpgThe U.S. Senate this morning effectively killed a budget slashing, debt reducing measure called "cut, cap and balance," on party-line vote. Florida Democrat Bill Nelson voted in the majority to table the bill; Republican Marco Rubio voted no.

The measure never had a chance in the Democratic-controlled Senate. It passed the House, after being pushed by tea-party backed freshmen Republicans.
