Senate opens 2010 session by honoring the late Sen. King
The Senate spent its opening minutes of the 2010 session honoring the late Sen. Jim King, who died of pancreatic cancer in July at age 69.
A Senate committee room already bears his picture and his name, but the chamber this morning officially designated it the King committee room as his widow, Linda King, looked on.
"I wish Jim were here to accept this on his behalf," she told senators. "This truly was our home, the one that he loved and the one that I loved with him."
The Senate also passed SB 176, naming a road in Jacksonville after King.
