Senate President Mike Haridopolos creates a Casey Anthony committee
In the wake of the verdict in the Casey Anthony trial, Senate President Mike Haridopolos announced Friday a Senate Select Committee on Protecting Florida’s Children to examine policies to further protect the state's children. Committee members are Joe Negron, R-Stuart, who will chair the group; Arthenia Joyner, D-Tampa, who will serve as vice chair; Anitere Flores, R-Miami; Greg Evers, R-Baker; and Chris Smith, D-Ft. Lauderdale.
After the verdict, several lawmakers filed bills intended to crack down on people who don't report missing children in a timely manner. Another bill would make jurors wait before they could accept money for sharing their stories
