Senate room renamed for the late Sen. Jim King
Senate President Jeff Atwater, speaking at the memorial service for the late Sen. Jim King, just announced that the fourth floor Senate office building, SB401, has been renamed in honor of King.
King, a lawmaker for 23 years, died July 26 of pancreatic cancer.
"The joy of having known him will be the honor we cherish for the rest of our lives," Atwater told the lawmakers, lobbyists and friends gathered in the House chambers and gallery. "Jim operated with an absolute absence of artifice."
The speakers for King's service: Atwater, King's best friend Sen. Dennis Jones, Sen. Paula Dockery, former Sen. Rod Smith.
