Sink to be guest on Miami radio show whose host accused her of ignoring black vote
Rev. Victor Curry used the power of the airwaves last week to blast Democrat Alex Sink for being a no-show at an NAACP event in Miami last week, so Sink has agreed to call in to his Tuesday show to hear him out.
Curry, who is head of Miami's large New Birth Cathedral of Faith International, president of the Miami-Dade NAACP chapter and owner of WMBM-AM 1490, used his weekly radio show last Tuesday to suggest that Sink was ignoring the black vote because she didn't attend the NAACP's candidate forum in Miami. Sink didn't even send a surrogate.
The Florida Courier, a Tampa-based black-owned newspaper, chronicled the affront in a front page story last week. Said Sink spokeswoman Kyra Jennings: "Alex Sink enjoys widespread support of African American voters across the state." She said Sink couldn't make the forum because of a scheduling conflict.
After Tuesday's Cabinet meeting, Sink will be a guest on Curry's radio show.
