Son of prominent U.S. Sugar lobbyist Bob Coker gets job at AWI
Christopher Coker, 26, will make $55,000 a year as legislative affairs administrator at the Agency for Workforce Innovation. He is the son of prominent lobbyist Bob Coker, vice president of U.S. Sugar, who watched the Super Bowl with Gov. Rick Scott in February.
Chris Coker graduated from Florida State University in 2008 with a bachelor's degree in social sciences. He has held several political internships and short-term jobs, and was Bill McCollum's coalitions director from November 2009 to August 2010. Before that, he interned for the Republican Party of Florida and House Speaker Dean Cannon and worked on the state Senate campaigns of Joe Negron and John Thrasher. He worked from May 2009 to February 2011 at Fowler White Boggs Banker as a government affairs assistant.
AWI already has a legislative affairs director, Curt Siegmeister. We wrote about him and several other of Scott's legislative affairs directors in this story. Siegmeister reports to Coker but makes a higher salary at $58,122, according to AWI records.
Coker's first day was Feb. 15.
