Super fans are itching for it to be midnight already so they can see Harry Potter and The Deathly Hallows Part Two. We found another wizardly showdown -- with a political twist -- that may help impatient Buzz readers pass the time.
A Thursday entry in the Center for Responsive Politics' Open Secrets blog details the outcome of a new battle between Harry Potter and Tom Riddle (Voldemort's given name). The challenge: Who's given more money to political campaigns?
In this case, Riddle narrowly wins. From the Open Secrets post: Five individuals listed as “Tom Riddle” have together donated a total of $11,825 to candidates seeking federal office while two individuals listed as “Harry Potter” have donated a total of $11,400.

We did our own search of the state's campaign finance database. No donors by those names turned up.
It's a stretch, we know, but a Florida-based contributor named Harold Potter sent $300 to Bill McBride's gubernatorial campaign in 2001, and another named Thomas Riddle gave $50 to Bill McCollum's attorney general campaign in 2006.
