Steve Schale moves into lobbying role, talks of future 'political projects'

Steve Schale, who directed the 2008 Obama campaign in Florida, is joining the lobbying ranks.

The Tallahassee-based consultant announced the move today on his blog. In an e-mail, Schale said he would have to check on naming his clients "but I will be joining the teams of a couple Fortune 500 companies." He will do P.R. work as well.

Schale said he has a "few political projects coming down the road," but declined to elaborate. He's had talks with Charlie Crist, who could run for governor in 2014.

"For me, this decision boils down to one thing: in June, my career in Florida politics will hit its seventeenth anniversary," he wrote. "Over those 17 years, I've had opportunities to do many amazing things:  work in the Legislature for nearly a decade, run the Democratic Party's most successful legislative cycle, and play a meaningful role in the election and re-election of a President. I've truly been blessed by the old Chinese curse: 'May you live in interesting times,' or as my nephew might say, 'I'm just livin' the dream.' "
