The stink over septic tank inspections
Members of the state Legislature who resoundingly voted in 2010 to require people to have their septic tanks inspected once every five years now say the new law -- sorry for the pun -- stinks. They're trying to have the law repealed or at least weakened, arguing that the cost is too great to septic tank owners and that a "one-size fits all" regulation is unnecessary. But state Sen. Dennis Jones said the law serves an important purpose, and that the cost to septic tank owners for an inspection isn't unreasonable. PolitiFact Florida wades into the stink over sewage here.
