Storms proposes bill to eliminate Hillsborough regulatory agency; Norman wants to expand its powers
Hillsborough County's legislative delegation tomorrow will consider competing bills proposed by Sen. Ronda Storms and Sen. Jim Norman. Storms' bill would eliminate the controversial Hillsborough County Public Transportation Commission, which regulates taxis, limos, amublances, tow trucks and other vehicles for hire. Norman's bill would reauthorize the agency and add powers for taxi and limo companies. Norman received significant contributions from the taxi cab industry in his successful state Senate run in November. Paperwork filed with Hillsborough County lists taxi lobbyist Louis Betz as the contact for Norman's bill. Read more about it here.
