Sugary (unsweet)Smith ad

Word is Florida's Working Families - the US Sugar-backed group that expressed such concern about Jim Davis missing the Hezbollah condemnation vote - has dropped nearly $700,000 for new TV ad touting Rod Smith. We haven't seen it yet, but it's supposed to be a positive bio ad running in Tampa Bay, Orlando, West Palm Beach and Jacksonville.

For those wondering how Smith can still compete with so little money in his account, this ad and the new party "three-pack'' spot helps answer the question. "A sugar-backed front group is throwing a lifesaver'' to Smith, said Josh Earnest of the Davis camp.

UPDATE: We heard wrong. The Working Families ad is anything but sugary sweet: "You should know: Congressman Jim Davis has the second worst attendance in congress. Jim davis voted to deny some struggling workers the minimum wage. Jim Davis voted against capping rates credit card companies can charge us. Jim Davis voted against allowing seniors to order low cost prescription drugs from Canada. Maybe we should be glad Jim davis rarely shows up for work."
