Sun-Sentinel, T-U Poll: Crist 49, Davis 43
A new statewide survey by Maryland-based Research 2000 for two Florida newspapers has Republican Charlie Crist leading Democrat Jim Davis by 6 percentage points, 49-43, with only 7 percent of voters undecided. The poll of 600 likely voters was taken Sept. 18-20 (MOE is +/-4 percentage points) is in Sunday's editions of the Sun-Sentinel and Florida Times-Union of Jacksonville.
The Sun-Sentinel quotes pollster Del Ali as predicting the race will tighten, and that Davis can make up ground by stressing education themes that will appeal to independents, women and African-American voters. The T-U's story notes that Crist is pulling more crossover support than his rival: 15 percent of Democrats support Crist, while 7 percent of Republicans like Davis.
