Supreme Court upholds Obamacare
The U.S. Supreme Court this morning upheld the federal health care law, including its most controversial requirement that all Americans have insurance, a landmark decision that is a major victory for President Barack Obama but one that will only intensify the political fight heading into the elections.
"The bottom line: the entire ACA (Affordable Care Act is upheld), with the exception that the federal government's power to terminate states' Medicaid funds is narrowly read," wrote SCOTUS Blog, an expert source on the court, minutes after the decision was handed down.
The case appeared to swing on Chief Justice John Roberts, an appointee of President George W. Bush. (story here)
