Teachers union backs Davis
You won't see the Florida Education Association throw resources in the governor's race anywhere close to the level they did in 2002. But having already endorsed Democrats Alex Sink and Skip Campbell for CFO and attorney general, members voted to endorse Jim Davis for governor.
“Jim Davis is committed to the same goals we are for public education in Florida,” said FEA President Andy Ford. “We know what works to educate Florida’s children – smaller class sizes, more funding for public schools, competitive salaries for all Florida teachers and education support professionals and a commitment to repair underperforming schools, not abandon them in favor of vouchers. Jim Davis believes in those goals and he believes that the high-stakes FCAT has been misused in public education. His common sense approach to public education would be a breath of fresh air.”
