Those outstanding absentee ballots
Democrats dispute the suggestion today by John McCain's deputy campaign manager, Christian Ferry, that Republicans are strongly positioned on combined early/absentee voting in Florida. Said Ferry: "Florida is similar to other states where Democrats normally have an advantage following the early vote period, Republicans have an advantage following absentee ballot voting. If you take all the absentee ballot requests, returns, and early votes that are cast, John McCain and the Republicans have an advantage."
Democrats say that when all those requested ballots and cast ballots are combined, Democrats have an advantage of 224,261 votes. As of this morning, by their count there were 306,081 outstanding Democrats absentee ballots, 232,921 outstanding from Republicans and 158,763.
