Ticket to override; Republicans could erase more Crist vetoes
Florida lawmakers have passed seven of the 1,889 bills they filed in the first week. So what's another 13?
House Speaker Dean Cannon, R-Winter Park, and Senate President Mike Haridopolos, R-Merritt Islans, asked legislators to peruse the list of bills former Gov. Charlie Crist vetoed last year and see which ones they would like to override.
Lawmakers can override Crist's vetoes until May 6, the end of the regular session. The GOP-led, veto-proof Legislature erased eight of Crist's vetoes during a special session in November.
The Senate list will be compiled through Sens. Nan Rich, D-Weston; Andy Gardiner, R-Orlando; and John Thrasher, R-St. Augustine. Cannon as House members to work the chamber's rules chairman, Gary Aubuchon, R-Cape Coral.
The list of vetoes (and links to stories):
