Tickets went fast for Obama's Friday visit in Tampa
TAMPA -- If you don’t have tickets to President Barack Obama’s Friday visit to Hillsborough Community College’s Dale Mabry campus, you’re out of luck.
It took less than five hours for the tickets to be handed out due to “overwhelming response from supporters”, according to Eric Jotkoff, a Florida spokesman for Obama tweeted this morning. For those who got tickets, Obama is expected to speak at about 4:15 p.m. at the Dale Mabry Campus Gymnasium at 4001 W. Tampa Bay Blvd.
The Obama campaign wouldn't disclose how many tickets were given out. But Ashley Carl, a spokeswoman for HCC, said in an e-mail to The Buzz that the gymanasium seats 1,084.
"They are planning for guests to stand as well," Carl said. "There is a formula for standing room space which would be determined once the staging is set. We held close to 3,000 in the gym when President Clinton visited. We plan on having a fire marshal on site to monitor the number. We also have planned overflow space in our cafeteria with a seating capacity of 475. As far as their ticket distribution, the campaign will have to provide you with that number."
So stay tuned for attendance....
