'Transparency' Web site isn't a big hit



A month after the state Senate launched, a Web site aimed at increasing openness about state spending, it appears the public isn't very interested.

The total visitors: 10,509. Average length of stay on the site: eight minutes and 30 seconds.

Far short of Senate President Jeff Atwater's (albeit overly idealistic) goal: "We are providing the means for 19 million Floridians to become 19 million auditors," he said at the Jan. 20 launching the site.

Total hits: 439,050 (or 15,141 per day average)*

Total visitors: 10,509 with an average length of stay 8 1/2 minutes.

Unique IP Addresses: 2,394**

*Multiple hits can come from one page view

**State of Florida computers all register one IP address, so the number is partially misleading, Senate staffers said.
