Transportation group urges Crist to veto trust fund sweep
Marcos Marchena, chairman of the Florida Transportation Commission, is urging Gov. Charlie Crist to veto the budget item that calls for a sweep of $120.2 million from the State Transportation Trust Fund to General Revenue.
Mark E. Reichert, assistant executive director, copied the letter to Senate budget chairman Sen. JD Alexander and other members of the policy and steering committee on ways and means.
Sen. Mike Fasano, head of the Senate's transportation and economic development budget committee, has not been shy about his concerns over raiding the trust fund, which pays for transportation projects.
