Trial lawyers have seen better days in Florida Senate
It stinks to be a trial lawyer these days. A measure cracking down on slip-and-fall lawsuits cleared the Senate 32-5 and heads to the governor for signature.
Trial lawyers got a table scrap from the Republican-controlled chamber, which boosted the amount of money that victims of government negligence can collect without going to the Legislature to collect the full amount of their award. The measure passed 38-0, but it now goes to the House. Another bill passed unanimously that would fix a 2008 Supreme Court ruling that makes waivers signed by parents void. More here on that.
