"We're Under Attack!"
So read the title of the e-mail blast the Randy Johnson campaign sent out Friday. The attacker in this case was Lt. Gov. Toni Jennings, whose recent automated phone message on Tom Lee's behalf told Republicans that Lee was the one under attack and that they should look out for mysterious fliers from the other side.
The Johnson camp asked in its e-mail why Lee let Jennings speak for him when his "record speaks for itself." The e-mail flier then reminded Republicans that Lee used to be a Democrat, and suggested that some of his votes on vouchers, guns and taxes were more in line with the other party. (Because it was Ronald Reagan who admonished Republicans not to attack each other, the Buzz can't resist the temptation to remind folks that Reagan used to be a Democrat, too).
A spokeswoman for Lee said the campaing is grateful for Jennings' support, and noted that despite the Johnson camp's "continuous taunts," the Lee camp has resisted the urge to attack Johnson, "though there's been no shortage of material."
