Van Sickle leaving RPOF
The Buzz is that the state GOP's ace communications director, Erin Van Sickle, is leaving the party and is looking at a couple potential statewide campaigns for her next gig. She's been looking to move on since January, so it's not a big shock.
But her departure does reflect the financially pinched state of the Florida GOP, which has been shedding jobs steadily since the election and is expected to continue to do so in the coming weeks and months. A couple other RPOF staffers, the "72-hour" political director and a field staffer in Orlando, lost their jobs on Friday.
If Charlie Crist does jump to the senate, as convential wisdom now has it, it could mean real financial challenges ahead for the RPOF as Crist focuses on raising federal hard money rather than soft money for the party.
