Weatherford wants Meek's ear on class size
Will Weatherford, he the sponsor of the state House joint resolution to ask voters to loosen the class-size standards, is looking to meet with Congressman Kendrick Meek, he the brainchild of Florida's landmark 2002 voter-approved class-size amendment.
Meek plans to return to Tallahassee later this month to rally Democratic members in the fight against Weatherford's measure and the Senate version sponsored by Stephen Wise, R-Jacksonville. And Weatherford is hoping to grab some time.
"I haven’t heard from him and I need to probably reach out to him, because I want to make sure he understands what we’re trying to do," the Wesley Chapel Republican said Thursday. "What his intention for the amendment was, I don’t disagree with. And I think if he really knew what the intention of our amendment was, he wouldn’t disagree with it either. But he and I probably need to sit down and chat about it. I know he’s busy running for the Senate, but when he has 10 minutes, I’m going to try to get his ear."
