Webster campaign, Democrats spar over TV ad

A lawyer for Rep. Dan Webster's campaign is asking Orlando area TV stations to remove a Democratic ad accusing him of "building" a lounge for lobbyists while a state representative.

"The letter respectfully demands stations immediately cease airing the false and misleading ads, and requests stations reject the purchase of time for future airings," Webster's campaign said. "The false claims by DCCC do not constitute a “candidate use;” therefore, stations are not obligated to air advertisements by third parties."

The ad by the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee makes similar claims as an ad from Webster's rival Val Demings. PolitiFact Florida rated her ad "Mostly False."

DCCC spokeswoman Stephanie Formas stood by the ad. “Congressman Dan Webster continues to prove that he’s just another career politician looking out for lobbyists, millionaires and special interests instead of middle class Floridians and seniors.

It's worth nothing that lobbyist money pours into Democratic accounts as well. For instance Rep. Ted Deutch, D-Boca Raton, has collected nearly $60,000 from lobbyists since being elected in 2010.
