The week in Movers and Shakers

Joe Pounder, Sen. Marco Rubio's communications director, is the Republican National committee's new research director and deputy director of communications for the 2012 cycle, RNC Chairman Reince Priebus announced last week. Pounder was Rubio's deputy campaign manager during his 2010 Senate run.

Dan Krassner is leaving his relatively new gig at Florida TaxWatch for a job with Burson-Marsteller, a global public relations firm in St. Petersburg. Krassner, TaxWatch's vice president of communications, will be Burson-Marsteller's director of public affairs. He tells Buzz he will return to Tallahassee for session and committee weeks. Before joining TaxWatch, Krassner worked for the Florida Chamber of Commerce as chief strategy and communications officer.

Huntsman had said he would base his national campaign in Orlando, another sign of Florida's important role in the GOP primary. Read more from Adam C. Smith here.

Gov. Rick Scott nominated former House Speaker Allan Bense and Joseph Gruters, an accountant and Sarasota GOP chairman, for spots on Florida State University's Board of Trustees.
