Weldon making a push against Mack, but time running out

11

July

220px-david_weldon.jpgUPDATE 1:17 p.m.: Weldon now has a radio ad mocking Mack for ducking debates. See below.

Dave Weldon is trying to step up attacks on Connie Mack, including a robo call (h/t @fineout) that says Mack cannot beat Democratic Sen. Bill Nelson, "no matter what the media says."

He's been complaining that Mack won't debate him and today tweeted with glee a story about a Republican-sponsored measure to dock pay of congressmen who miss votes due to campaigning. Mack has missed a lot of votes.

Still, there's little sign Weldon, who doesn't seem to be doing much media outreach, is gaining ground and lots of evidence Mack is barreling toward the Republican nomination. Weldon got a late start, and it shows.

The GOP Senate primary is Aug. 14.
