What Florida Needs: Dick Cheney
The Capital City Tiger Bay Club's annual Tiger at Bay Thursday night featured satirist Christopher Buckley, who kept the audience of nearly 500 laughing with talk of Republicans' goal of showing Madeline Albright giving North Korea's Kim Jong-il lap dances, "oval sex" and Mark Foley's misunderstanding of the "No Child Left Behind" program.
VP Dick Cheney might be the state's best hope in a hurricane, Buckley suggested: "He's unflappable. If there were a hurricane coming, you could tie your boat to Cheney and it would still be there after the hurricane."
And asked if Jeb Bush should follow his brother and bid for the Oval Office, Buckley quipped back "I'm in Tallahassee and you're asking me -- Doesn't he own the state police? Of course, and the sooner the better."
