What Karl Rove wants you to tell Bill Nelson
The ad from Crossroads GPS, a shadowy conservative political group formed by Karl Rove, starts today on Florida TV airwaves and will run for two weeks. Total spending on the Florida effort is more than $531,035.
The spot is part of the group's $20 million ad campaign timed to national debt negotiations in Congress. Similar ads are targeting senators in four other states.
Here's the response from Nelson:
“The ad is a complete distortion of Sen. Nelson’s attempts to get a responsible budget,” said the senator’s spokesman Dan McLaughlin. “Not mentioned is the fact that Sen. Nelson was joined in some of the votes the ad cites by 27 Republicans, including GOP Senate leader Mitch McConnell. Floridians will see this attack-ad for what it is: rubbish paid for by a shadowy, partisan front group.”
