Sen. Bill Nelson's staff was quick to point out that Katherine Harris was MIA from the a U.S. House subcommittee hearing today on "stabilizing insurance markets for coastal consumers."

Harris sits on the subcommittee -- the Financial Services Capital Markets, Insurance and Government Sponsored Enterprises subcommittee -- but her schedule shows she was speaking to the Lake Republican Women's Club Luncheon in Tavares.

Other Floridians who were present at the hearing included Rep. Ginny Brown- Waite and Debbie Wasserman Schultz, who sit on the committee, and others including Reps. Clay Shaw and Mark Foley, who do not.
