White House touts stimulus, will Florida measure up?
The White House this afternoon held a federal stimulus tutorial this afternoon and leading the way was none other than Anita Dunn, the veteran Democratic strategist and alum of the 2006 Jim Davis gubernatorial campaign.
Dunn boasted to reporters that the recovery act has been a "genuine success in terms of helping to rescue the economy from the precipice it was on when this president took office."
On Oct. 1, Florida and other states will be required to detail how the stimulus spending is being put to work. By going to recovery.gov later in the month, you'll be able to see which contractors have received money and how many jobs have been supported.
Florida will be an interesting test as Gov. Charlie Crist has been criticized for not spending the money fast enough, a charge he denies. Today, Crist and other governors are to take place in a conference call with Vice President Joe Biden about the stimulus reporting deadlines.
Dunn joined the administration this spring and is the second Davis alum working the White House. Campaign junkies may remember that Josh Earnest, Davis' communications director, is now an Obama press secretary.
