Who turned Charlie Crist into the Climate Crusader?
Six months into his term as governor, Charlie Crist has leaped into the national spotlight pushing the fight against global warming -- an issue his predecessors seldom paid attention to. He's been written up in Time magazine, appeared on the CBS "Early Show" and was hailed as an "action hero" by California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger.
But Crist didn't mention the issue at all during his campaign, or his inaugural address. So where did he get the idea that this was a big issue for the governor of Florida to tackle?
The day after he took office, an old friend and fellow Republican put it on his radar screen: St. Petersburg Mayor Rick Baker.
