William Shepherd named statewide prosecutor
Attorney General Bill McCollum today made four appointments:
-- William N. Shepherd, statewide prosecutor. Shepherd, who has been with the Attorney General’s Office for over three years, will be the fifth statewide prosecutor for the State of Florida.
-- Scott D. Makar, solicitor general. Makar, of Jacksonville, previously served as the chief of the Appellate Division and assistant general counsel to the City of Jacksonville.
-- James D. Varnado, inspector general. Varnado, of Tallahassee, was the founding partner of a private Tallahassee law firm before accepting the position of Inspector General.
-- John L. Hamilton, director of administration. Hamilton, of Tallahassee, has served for the past few years as the budget administrator for the Florida Department of Law Enforcement.
