Winner and loser of the week in Fla politics

22

January

Mmeek Winner of the week: U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek: The Democratic frontrunner for U.S. Senate  showed real grit and hustle getting into quake-ravaged Haiti. Sans entourage, Meek bought a commercial plane ticket in Miami, flew to Santo Domingo, hired a local Dominican driver, drove Adamgoodman overnight to the Haitian-Dominican Republic border, and then continued to Port-au-Prince’s airport. Runner up: Adam Goodman, Dylan Sumner, Randy Nielsen, Rocky Pennington and every other media/mail consultant who could find themselves swimming in corporate money in the wake of the Supreme Court's campaign finance ruling.

Mmeek Loser of the week:U.S. Rep. Kendrick Meek: His campaign laughably suggested Meek is the Scott Brown of Florida, because voters everywhere want change. “Having worked as a skycap for tips, as a Florida State Trooper and having led the Coalition to Reduce Class Size, Kendrick Meek is the candidate best positioned to deliver that change as a U.S. Senator.” Puh lease. Twitter_logo The guy who inherited his Congressional seat from his mother is now the poster boy for outsiders and change? Runner up: Twitter. Two Florida Supreme Court committees want justices to ban jurors from tweeting, texting, e-mailing and using the Internet to communicate about or  research cases.
